Preparing Myself for the Cold

Today I checked our forecast for the first few days of our trip. I was pleasantly surprised that weather.com said it should be nearing the 30's while we're there. I can handle the 30's, no problem. We even had a few days in the 20's this year. The crazy thing is that I checked today's temp and it said it was 9 degrees in Kaliningrad and it was 78 deg today in Houston. What a major difference, yesterday it was 82 here. I am definitely a warm weather girl, but I'm getting exciting to experience the cold and maybe a little snow. I've got my long johns, hat, scarf, gloves, and a warm down coat, I don't think I'm forgetting anything. Ahhhhh, I can't believe it, just 6 more days until we leave!!

  2. Be prepared - it will be very warm indoors so dress in layers and bring some short sleeved shirts. If you have the right outdoor gear it won't seem as cold as it is. Bring a good pair of boots to wear in the snow - we just got back and all of the streets in Moscow were snow and ice covered so you will want to wear boots that will keep your feet warm and have good traction.

Good luck on your trip - looking forward to following your journey.

  3. So exciting!!!! We leave this weekend too! Going to Moscow though. We were there in December and it was -18 degrees a couple days! Cold, cold, cold! You don't spend too much time outdoors, so it is bearable. We wore long johns every day, all day though. The outdoor shopping at Red Square was a nightmare! We had to keep taking off our gloves to get money out!
