After worrying about how I was going to handle the cold in Russia I searched for pictures of Russian winters and all I can say is "Beautiful". We will get to see things we'd never see here in Texas, gorgeous ice and snow sculptures, Moscow lights in Red Square and so much more. The snow sculptures reminded me of the sand sculpture competition they have every year on Galveston Island, but 10 times more beautiful. I'm actually getting excited about traveling in the winter, it's amazing how differently I can view this now. Bring on the coats and gloves and hats and long johns, I'm ready.

Beautiful photos! We didn't get to see any ice sculptures, but we did see the mall in Red Square in lights and the gorgeous St. Basil Cathedral. We were there in December 2008 and they had an ice skating rink set up in the middle of Red Square. Very Cool!
ReplyDeleteP.S. In our region it was -40. We discovered that -40 Fahrenheit and -40 Celsius are the same temperature. Who knew?
